Boresha Mavuno Agritech Launches its Flagship Program - The Farmer-First Initiative in Malaba and Mbale.

The Farmer-First Initiative is a farmer-centric outreach model launched by Boresha Mavuno Agritech in February 2025 to re-center both farmers and youth especially women as co-creators of agricultural transformation in Uganda. Despite forming the majority of Africa’s agricultural labor force, these groups remain underrepresented in policy-making and underserved by traditional extension services. This initiative addresses that gap by combining participatory engagement, climate-smart training, and inclusive follow-up support. Currently active in Malaba and Mbale districts, the initiative has so far engaged and empowered 200+ smallholder farmers in co-developing solutions across four key areas: Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), agro-processing, waste-to-value practices, and sustainable land management.

The Farmers First Initiative is a farmer-led, participatory program currently active in Mbale and Malaba districts of Eastern Uganda. It places farmers at the center of agricultural transformation.

Key Activities:

  • Farmer Engagement Dialogues.
  • Practical Trainings.
  • Inclusive Participation. Ongoing Support.

Early Impact (Feb–Mar 2025):

  • 200+ farmers reached in Eastern Uganda.
  • 70% reported improved knowledge on sustainable practices.
  • Early composting adopters reducing chemical inputs.
  • 40% of participants were women and youth.
  • Strong farmer feedback: “We now feel seen, heard, and valued.”

The Farmers First Initiative is more than a program it’s a grassroots movement of
empowerment, transforming farmers into climate leaders and agents of change.

What Sets Us Apart:

  • Co-Creation with Farmers: Bottomup solutions designed by and for the community.
  • Gender and Youth Inclusion: Intentionally designed to serve women and youth agripreneurs.
  • Climate-Smart Focus: Promoting regenerative agriculture and future digital tools.
  • Sustainability First: Agro-processing and Circular economy principles embedded from the outset.

By working hand-in-hand with farmers, we help them adapt to climate change, restore ecosystems, and create more sustainable rural livelihoods. Our efforts are grounded in education, co-creation, and practical, community-led action.
